TIPS AND TECHNIQUES MENTORING SESSION – Wednesday, February 25

The Wednesday, February 25th “Tips and Techniques” mentoring session will be led by Brad Davidson, concentrating on how to fine-tune the autofocus feature on your camera. Brad will also show how to calibrate a monitor and projector using the Spyder calibrating system. Bring your laptop and a photo you would like to learn to adjust. We will go through learning to edit photo files. Bring your photo on a flashdrive or CD. Be sure to bring your camera as well to learn about its autofocus function.

FEBRUARY ASSIGNMENT

The theme for photo submissions for critique/competition for February is “PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY” people, animals (wild or domestic). For the first time you may submit theme photos in one of the following: Beginner, Intermediate or Experienced divisions.

February 11 Meeting – Betty & Doug Holling, speakers

The public is invited to the regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, February 11 (note that this is the new meeting date). Members of the club, Betty & Doug Holling will present a show of photographs from their travels entitled “From Alaska to Antarctica”. Meeting at the fire station at 7 pm – social hour at 6:30 pm.

TIPS AND TECHNIQUES MENTORING SESSION – Tuesday, January 20th

The Tuesday, January 20th “Tips and Techniques” mentoring session will be led by Lorrie McAllister. The session will help members learn to use the Evergreen Camera Club Yahoo Group, a discussion forum and a repository for club information. In addition, we will learn to use FLICKR, another Yahoo sponsored group, which serves as a photo repository where members may store, showcase, share and solicit comments on their photos both among other ECC members and other outside photographers.

JANUARY 6, 2009 MEETING – Wendy Schott, speaker

The public is invited to attend the next Evergreen Camera Club meeting held at the Evergreen Annex Fire Station on Bergen Parkway. The meeting will be Tuesday, January 6 (note this is a change to first Tuesday of the month THIS MONTH ONLY) (7:00 P.M.). Our guest speaker/presenter is Wendy Schott. Wendy is a well-known local photographer who devotes her photography work to portraiture: black and white and color photos of children, family and senior portraits are her specialty.

JANUARY ASSIGNMENT

The theme for photo submissions for critique/competion for January is “ALL THINGS HOLIDAY”. Christmas, Chanukah, family and other events, lights, etc. in A or B categories. You may also submit photos to the open category. Photo submissions must be received by Brad at photos@bcdavidson.com no later than 8am Monday, January 5.

YEAR-END PHOTO COMPETITION ~ December Meeting, TUESDAY 12/9.

Panel of three assembled judges, all authors well known for their photographic work, will preview submissions. Alternate critiquing will follow, with assignment of a numeric score from 6 to 9.
Highest scorers will then be reviewed with judges selecting an overall “Best in Show”, then “Best in Show” for both A and B Divisions. (“Overall Best in Show” cannot win Division.)
Only ‘Members’ may participate in competition, maximum of two entries in theme of choice.
Entries are to be submitted to Brad (Photos@BCDavidson.com), one photo per email, no larger than 5MG.

“BIGHORN In-the-Rut” Field Trip ~ Sat. 11/22/08

Join us for an exciting opportunity to view and photograph BIGHORN SHEEP during breeding season.
Of the approximately 8,000 in our various mtn areas, we are fortunate to have the second largest concentration in our own backyard. A/K/A the ‘Georgetown Herd’, they can often be seen in areas along US-6, I-70, and US-40.

NOVEMBER 11TH MEETING – Guest Speaker, David Smith

The Public is invited to attend our November meeting when the Guest Speaker will be Colorado Photographer ~ David Smith. Owner and operator of Downtown Evergreen’s “Timberline Gallery”, David has recently published his first book, “Timberline: Landscapes from the Colorado High Country”, and he will be showing photos from the book as well as talking about his experiences in publishing. A life-long passion, his work has been represented in several galleries around Colorado. It’s sure to be an interesting program!
