January T&T: WTHAMI!!!? with Jeff Johnson

by Ellen Nelson

We’ve all gotten pretty proficient at image processing. But do you know where your images are? Do you know how much hard drive space you are using or how much you have left? How about your backup system . . . is that reliable? If you are struggling with these answers, so are most of your peers. It’s a commonplace theme among us creatives.

Colorado Master Photographer, Artist, Educator and Chief Instigator Jeff Johnson will help simplify your image storage structure as well as file hierarchy and file naming conventions. Don’t worry . . . all is not lost!

October T&T: Photo Search Software with Rick Noel

by ecc

RICK NOEL is looking for Feedback

Have you ever spent way too much time looking for a specific photo? Do keywords make you cringe? There are many excellent photo editing programs out there, however, Rick was frustrated that they were weak at helping him find the photos he wanted to view and/or edit. So, he decided to write his own.
His app can:
– find photos taken in a specified place like the “Grand Canyon”
– find photos that contain particular people. For example: me and my spouse
– find photos shot on a certain date, season, year, etc.
– and much more
Rick needs our help to watch his demo and offer thoughtful feedback with what he has developed.
Evergreen Camera Club is continuing their popular Zoom meeting format, so join ECC on Wednesday, October 28th for a virtual social time at 6:30 pm and announcements at 7:00 pm in the Zoom meeting room.

August T&T: Debunking Your Histogram with Bob Coorsen

by ecc

Ever wonder what the secret is to understanding light when taking a photograph? Virtually every digital camera made today has a built-in tool showing how light is distributed within an image to ensure you get the exposure right almost every time. Bob Coorsen will debunk the technical aspects of the histogram and show you how simple it is to understand. You will never take another image without using your histogram once you take this Tips & Techniques presentation. January 2020 T&T: African Photography Trip Review with Eric Esau

by ecc

Would you like to travel to Africa, and not cost you less than a trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom resort?

Our Evergreen camera club president Eric Esau traveled to Uganda last July and spent $8,500 for three people for 15 days. They went on multiple safaris in four different national parks and wildlife sanctuaries. The amount of wildlife they saw and photographed was amazing.

Eric is going to talk about how he did it, what to see and the best places they visited. He will talk about more expensive lodging options as well as super budget lodging. They did a mid-range tour and their accommodations were mid-range and very nice.

Other things he will talk about: How to hire a guide and tour company, how much to tip, where to eat, and what to avoid. He’ll talk about logistics, medical precautions, and bugs (There are not as many as you think). Come and learn about how you can do that bucket list trip you have always wanted to do.
Doors open at 6:30 pm for social time.

he Evergreen Camera Club has the exhibition wall in the Evergreen Library reserved for displaying our photographs in the month of DECEMBER. This is a large space, and can easily hold 60-100 photos, depending on size and arrangement, so there is room for EVERYONE to show some of their work. The easiest way to display your photos is to mount then on foam board and use Velcro to stick them to the wall.

At this Tips and Techniques meeting we will be mounting prints on foam boards. ECC will provide the material and expertise so you can mount your photos for the exhibit. So, gather up your photos. Size can vary. Many photos need to be 8×10 or larger to show well. They can be much larger if you prefer. Depending on the subject and how much they grab attention via color or contrast, some could be smaller.

This will be an excellent opportunity for members to bring their prints and get help mounting the prints to a backing suitable for display at the library.

For the library display, photos can be in frames, or mounted on foam board, or whatever. They need not all be mounted the same. The main wall is fabric-covered wood, and nails can be driven into it to hang framed photos with hanging wire.

You may also bring photos which are already prepared for the exhibit and we will collect them.
